Balen secures 38% votes as 3 wards remain to be counted in KMC

Sirjana: 24.24%, Sthapit: 24.03%



KATHMANDU: The counting of votes in 29 wards of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been completed.

According to the Chief Returning Officer, Kathmandu, the counting of votes has been over in all wards except wards 14, 15, and 16.

A total of 1, 83,679 votes have been counted so far and 1, 54,895 votes have been cast for the post of mayor.

Independent candidate Balen Shah is in the first position while Nepali Congress (NC)’s Sirjana Singh is in the second position and CPN-UML’s Keshav is in the third position.

Independent candidate for mayor Balen Shah has received 59,149 votes. That is 38.19 percent of the total votes cast.

NC’s Sirjana Singh, who is in the second position, got 37,542 votes (24.24%) while Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML got 37,218 votes (24.03% of the total votes cast).

Independent candidate Suman Sayami, who is in the fourth position, has received 13,354 votes so far. Which is 8.62 percent of the total votes.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s mayoral candidate Madan Das Shrestha is in the fifth position with 5565 votes (3.59%).

Similarly, Samiksha Banskota, the mayoral candidate of Bibeksheel Sahja Party got 630 votes (0.41%).

The other mayoral candidates have received 1,437 votes so far (0.93%).
