UML Chair Oli compares Prachanda, Madhav with ‘royalist communist’ Rayamajhi
CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has labeled two former comrades-in-arms Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal as new Keshar Jung Rayamajhi of the communist movement trying to capture the party treacherously.
Speaking at a program organized to mark the Man Mohan Memorial Day in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the UML chair accused the CPN-Maoist Center Chair and CPN-Unified Socialist Chair tried to capture the party organization just like Rayamajhi during King Mahendra’s rule.
Number of candidates filing nomination for local polls crosses 141,000
The number of candidates registering nominations for various posts in the local level elections has crossed 141,000.
According to the data updated by the Election Commission (EC) as of 10:30 am, the number of those who have registered their nominations for various posts across the country has reached 141,468.
20,000 observers from 68 organizations to be deployed for local polls
The Election Commission has said that 20,000 observers will observe the local level elections to be held on May 13.
A total of 68 various organizations have taken permission to observe the local level elections, according to Shaligram Sharma Paudel, the spokesperson of the Commission.
Forest fire breaks out in Shivapuri National Park
A forest fire has broken out in Shivapuri National Park at Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The fire broke out in the forest on the south side of Jogal Danda Nani Gumba in ward 2 of Budhanilkantha Municipality.
The personnel of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police along with the locals are at work to control the fire that broke out since today afternoon.
SC hearing on NRB governor suspension to continue on Thursday
A Supreme Court hearing on the case related to the suspension of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari is to be continued on Thursday.
Governor Adhikari, who was suspended as NRB governor after the government formed an inquiry committee against him on April 9, had filed a writ petition at the court challenging the government decision.
The apex court had stayed the government’s decision until April 26.
NEPSE declines by 15.02 points Tuesday
The stock market plunged by 15.02 points to drop to 2370.99 points Tuesday, the third day of the week.
Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) sensitive index declined by 0.63 percent today.
The Sensitive Index of Good and Strong Companies also declined by 1.74 points to drop to 452.95 points. Tuesday’s overall transaction also shrunk to Rs.1 billion.
