Top leaders of ruling coalition to hold discussions in Baluwatar



KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the three major parties of the ruling coalition are scheduled to hold discussions.

Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal are to hold discussions at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday evening.

The three parties in the ruling coalition are at loggerheads over whether to approve the US aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement in parliament. While the NC is in favor of ratifying MCC, the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist are not in favor of ratification without amendments to the compact.

The three leaders are engaged in discussions as the possibility of breaking the ruling alliance has increased.
