Nepal should learn lesson from Russian invasion of Ukraine: Maoist leader Shrestha

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that Nepal should learn a lesson from Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

He said the very existence of a small nation (Ukraine) is at stake after a superpower used it for its strategic interests and Ukraine accepted to be used.

Taking to social network Facebook, the Maoist leader Saturday said that Nepal should also learn a lesson from this incident keeping in mind its geopolitical sensitivities. “Today’s situation of invasion, war, and state of extinction arose after the US tried to use Ukraine against its neighbor Russia and Ukraine accepted that role,” said Shrestha.

Shrestha, who is also a former foreign minister, called on Russia to respect national sovereignty, geographical integrity, the notion of self-determination and urged it to withdraw from Ukraine by ending the invasion. He also appealed to all to stand for universal equality and world peace.
