PM Deuba urges Prachanda to take institutional decision on MCC



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has given an ultimatum to the CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to formulate an institutional view on the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project.

According to sources, Prime Minister Deuba urged the Maoist Center Chairman to come with the institutional decision on the US grant.

“Fed up with the protests and sloganeering on the grant from the cadres of the coalition parties, the Prime Minister has decided to get the final view of the party on the issue,” a leader close to PM Deuba said, adding, “Prime Minister Deuba gave an ultimatum to Prachanda to come with official opinion on the issue.”

The leader informed that the Prime Minister has urged the Maoist Chair to clarify the stand by 3 pm Saturday.

After the Prime Minister’s ultimatum, Prachanda had said that the decision would be taken after discussion in the party today.
