BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gopal Basnet has been elected as a member of the National Assembly through a lucky draw.
In the National Assembly election held in Province 1, NC candidate Basnet and UML candidate Guru Baral got equal votes.
Both the candidates – Basnet and Baral — got 4,488 votes.
Basnet had the support of the five-party ruling alliance.
