NC leader Basnet wins HoR seat in Sindhupalchok-2



SINDHUPALCHOK: Nepali Congress candidate Mohan Bahadur Basnet has won the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Sindhupalchok electoral constituency no 2.

He defeated CPN-UML candidate Sher Bahadur Tamang by a margin of 11,874 votes.

Basnet garnered 39,367 votes and Tamang 27,493 in the elections held on November 20, said District Election Officer Bikash Rijal.

This is the first time that the Nepali Congress has won the HoR seat from Sindhupalchok constituency-2.

Tamang had won the HoR elections in 2070 BS and 2074 BS before this.

Meanwhile, Maoist Centre’s Yubaraj Dulal has been elected the Province Assembly (PA) member from Sindhupalchok PA constituency 2(1) and NC’s Krishna Kumar Tamang has been elected from PA constituency 2(2).
