NC’s leadership inevitable for strengthening democracy: PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reiterated that the leadership of the Nepali Congress was vital for strengthening democracy besides the country’s development and prosperity.

Stating the elections were important in a democracy, PM Deuba said people need to be extremely cautious while choosing their representatives.

He also expressed the government’s commitment to press freedom saying that the government was committed to protecting press freedom and strengthening democracy.

Prime Minister Deuba said freedom of the press was necessary for the strengthening of democracy, which has been guaranteed by the Constitution.

The government will stand for press freedom as there cannot be development and strengthening of democracy in the country without it, he said adding that press freedom is essential for democracy.
