KMC wants businesses running at underground area removed, few illegal structures bulldozed



KATHMANDU: A team under the leadership of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah, directed the owners of the Shankhamul Burger House at New Baneshwor and Alfabeta House to immediately vacate the underground area in the property on Thursday.

After inspecting these areas, Mayor Shah urged the businesses concerned to use the underground area constructed for parking for the same purpose. The team also directed to make arrangement of parking as per the map by immediately removing the infrastructures constructed for other purposes in parking lot.

A medical lab has been operated in the parking area of Alfabeta House while Burger House of Shankhamul is running at basement parking.

Chief of Kathmandu Municipal Police, Raju Pandey, shared that Mayor Shah asked both of them to remove the other structures constructed at the parking area immediately.

Following which, a bulldozer demolished the illegal structure at Alfabeta complex.

Similarly, the team comprising Mayor Shah and Municipal Police Chief Pandey has now reached at Gaushala in order to acquire information about the building where Muktinath Development Bank is located.

KMC had issued a 35-day notice to remove illegally constructed structures. It said it has been compelled to go for action after the notice was ignored.
