Committee formed to probe incident of inmate escaping from hospital during treatment



KATHMANDU: A probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident of inmate escaping from the hospital during treatment.

Nepal Police formed the committee to investigate the incident wherein an inmate escaped from the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) while treatment was underway.

Inmate Bhola Budhathoki, 31, of Pilpung Rural Municipality in Ramechhap on Wednesday had fled the hospital while being treated.

Kathmandu Valley Police Office took him to the hospital for treatment.

A four-member probe committee was constituted under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Devendra Bahadur Pal to carry out an investigation into the incident.

Absconding Budhathoki had been languishing at a prison in Anashrit Gulma Nakhkhu, Lalitpur.

Kathmandu Valley Police Office had relieved the in-charge of Anashrit Gulma Nakhkhu of the responsibility after the escape of the jailbird. Also, the office had suspended the police deputed for the security of inmates.

Investigation into the incident is underway, the office said.
