Mets urge people to remain alert amid heavy rains forecast

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people to remain alert as there is a risk of landslides and floods due to heavy rainfall in different parts of the country.

The Department has also urged people to take necessary precautions as the water level in rivers and streams may rise.

Meanwhile, different parts of the country have been witnessing rainfall since early morning.

According to the Department, rains coupled with thunder and lightning have been witnessed in most parts of Province-1, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province.

This will likely to continue in the afternoon as well.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many places of hilly areas across the country as well, the Department said.

Meanwhile, a temporary bridge in ward no. 11 of Melamchi Municipality has been damaged by flood water last night.
