Maoist Center wins mayor and deputy mayor posts in Rajapur municipality



BANKE: CPN (Maoist Center) candidates have been elected to the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Rajapur municipality in Bardiya district in the May 13 local election.

Dipesh Tharu has become victorious in the election to mayor and Manakala Kumari Chaudhary in the deputy mayor post. Tharu secured 9,807 votes to be elected the mayor while his closest contender Deepak Jung Shah of the Nepali Congress bagged 9,760 votes.

Similarly, Chaudhary secured 10,086 votes as against her closest contender Yashoda Tharu of the Nepali Congress, who bagged 10,045 votes.

The Maoist Center candidates have been elected the ward chair at ward number 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10. The Nepali Congress has won the ward chair in ward number 1, 2 and 9, and the UML in ward number 7.
