KATHMANDU: Gujarat Titans have entered the final of IPL by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the first qualifier.
Chasing the target of 189 runs set by Rajasthan, Gujarat scored 191 runs for the loss of three wickets with three balls to spare.
David Miller proved to be the hero of Gujarat’s victory. Miller hit an unbeaten 68 runs off 38 balls with three fours and five sixes. He struck sixes in the first three balls of the last over to take the team to the final.
He was well supported by Captain Hardik Pandya. Pandya struck five fours in 27 balls and scored an unbeaten 40 runs. Earlier, Shubman Gill and Matthew Wade had contributed 35 runs each.
Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Rajasthan lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 188 runs. Jos Butler topped the score for Rajasthan Royals with 89 runs. Butler hit 12 fours and two sixes in 56 balls and scored 89 runs.
Gujarat have participated in the IPL for the first time.
However, after this defeat, Rajasthan Royals still have a chance.
They will have a chance to play the second qualifier with the winning team in the eliminator round.
Rajasthan had won the title in the first season of IPL held in 2008.
