Maoist Center’s two factions clash in Chautara Municipality

KATHMANDU: A clash has erupted between Maoist Center’s two factions in Chautara Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, on Sunday.

The warring factions were those who got tickets for local election and those who did not.

Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer (CDO) Bed Nidhi Khanal said police, Armed Police Force (APF) were mobilized and few rounds of tear gas were also fired to bring the situation under control.

Chautara Maoist leader Amansingh Tamang said the clash took place as the party preferred to distribute tickets to those staying in Kathmandu instead of local aspirants. He added, “I, too, have filed nomination as an independent.”

Municipal property has also been vandalized in the clash.
