NC fields Srijana Singh as mayor of Kathmandu metropolis

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Kathmandu Metropolitan Working Committee is filing nominations for the posts of ward representatives including the mayor today.

The Committee is making preparations to organize a huge rally before filing the nominations. The party has appealed to the NC leaders, cadres and supporters to gather at Shanti Batika at 1 pm to this effect, said UP Lamichhane, the personal aide of NC leader Prakash Man Singh. The rally will begin once all the cadres and leaders gather at Batika.

The ruling NC has decided to field Srijana Singh as a candidate for the post of mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the upcoming local level elections. The election is being held on May 13.

The names of Nilkaji Shakya, Srijana Singh, Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha, Engineer Sushan Baidya and Pragatiman Ranjit were recommended for the post by the NC Metropolitan Working Committee.

The Election Commission has set  April 24 and 25 as filing of the nominations. The nomination which started yesterday is coming to an end today.
