NC Spokesperson Dr. Mahat stresses need-based approach to electoral alliance



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that electoral alliance should be forged on a need basis.

While briefing the media about the party’s Central Working Committee meeting held at the party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, on Friday, Dr. Mahat said, “There should be an alliance on the principle of necessity.”

He also refuted the allegation that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba was inclined to impose an alliance forcefully. “It is not true that President Deuba is trying to impose an electoral alliance in the election,” he told reporters.

Spokesperson Dr. Mahat said the party received varying suggestions from various parts of the provinces.

“Reports from different areas suggested both the need of electoral alliance in some places and no need of such alliance,” he said.
