China’s Foreign Minister arrives in Kathmandu
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu Friday afternoon.
Yi, who had reached Pakistan on Monday, arrived in Kathmandu on Friday afternoon after wrapping up visits to Afghanistan and India.
The Chinese Foreign Minister is leading a 25-member Chinese delegation to Nepal.
This is the first high-level visit by a Chinese official after Nepal’s parliament ratified the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal Compact, which China had been against.
Maoist Chair Dahal stresses on consensus, collaboration among political parties
CPN-Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed consensus and collaboration among political parties.
At a foundation stone laying program of an administrative building of Bharatpur Metropolitan City on Friday, Chair shared that this situation would not have come if political parties had headed alone.
Saying the constitution was promulgated through the collaboration of political parties, Prachanda argued that the establishment of peace, the promulgation of constitution was not possible without political parties’ collaboration and consensus.
Rohit Poudel makes himself the highest scorer for Nepal
Rohit Poudel has become the highest run-scorer for Nepal in One Day International (ODI) cricket in a single inning.
He scored the highest 126 runs in the match against Papua New Guinea at the TU Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.
Facing 107 balls, he was dismissed by Norman Vanua in 45 overs.
Earlier, the record was held by former captain Paras Khadka. Khadka had a record of 115 runs.
High Court refuses to issue interim order on NRNA conference-related case

NC Spokesperson Dr. Mahat stresses need-based approach to electoral alliance
Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that electoral alliance should be forged on a need basis.
While briefing the media about the party’s Central Working Committee meeting held at the party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, on Friday, Dr. Mahat said, “There should be an alliance on the principle of necessity.”
He also refuted the allegation that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba was inclined to impose an alliance forcefully. “It is not true that President Deuba is trying to impose an electoral alliance in the election,” he told reporters.
World Bank to provide Rs 18 billion to strengthen Nepal’s financial sector
The World Bank is to provide Rs 18 billion under the Finance for Growth development policy credit to strengthen Nepal’s financial sector for its green, resilent and inclusive development.
The Bank’s Board of Executive Directors took a decision to this effect on Thursday. “By strengthening the financial sector, this project will contribute to Nepal’s green, resilient, and inclusive recovery and growth path, particularly benefiting the poor and vulnerable,” stated Faris Hadad-Zervos, World Bank Country Director for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
