CPN-UML registers with the EC for local election purpose



KATHMANDU: Main opposition CPN-UML has registered the party with the Election Commission (EC) for local election purposes.

A team led by party’s General Secretary Shankar Pokharel reached the Election Commission on Friday to register the party.

After the party registration, Pokharel said that there should be a consensus among the major parties.

He said that the UML was preparing for the election as the date of the election had already been announced.

Stating that he was not in favor of changing the government now, Pokhrel said that the UML was committed to leading democracy on the right path.

EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel informed that they have received applications from 40 different parties for the local election.

He stated that preparations for the local elections are in full swing.
