Meeting of ruling coalition inconclusive; to meet again tomorrow
A meeting of the ruling coalition held to thrash out differences on naming a new Prime Minister ended inconclusively today. The parties could not forge consensus on government formation as manor parties – Nepal Congress (NC) and Maoist Center – remained adamant about their respective positions on the prime ministership, a leader who attended the meeting said.
Ministry of Health alerts against new variant of coronavirus
The Ministry of Health and Population has appealed to the general public to be aware of the new variant BF-7 of the coronavirus. The ministry issued a press release today asserting that although the new variant of Covid-19 has not been confirmed in Nepal so far, due to its growing influence in neighboring countries, there is a need to be alert in Nepal as well.
Prachanda’s possibility of becoming Prime Minister is nearly over: UML Chair Oli
CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has said that CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s chances for the premiership are about to end because he (Prachanda) did not take steps in time. The UML Chair said that Prachanda expressed his desire to become the prime minister; however, his possibility is nearly over as he did not take the decision on time.
Govt prepares Nepal tourism decade strategic action plan
The government has prepared the ‘Nepal tourism decade (2023-2032) strategic action plan’ as part of the revival of the tourism sector. The action plan has set a target to bring in 3.5 million foreign tourists till 2032 in the country as well as create employment for one million more people in the tourism sector during the decade.
Tourism Ministry urges CAAN to study airfare cartel
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), to study cartel in domestic flights. The Ministry asked the CAAN for the study after Buddha, Yeti, Shree and Saurya Airlines fixed airfare in cahoots with each other.
Myanmar national held for obtaining Nepali Citizenship
A Myanmar citizen has been arrested after finding to have obtained Nepali citizenship by submitting false information. According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, a citizen who came from Myanmar and has been living in Sarlahi is found to have obtained Nepali citizenship.
Police nab three with fake Nepali currency
Nepal police arrested three people with counterfeit Nepali notes from Harnaiya Chowk in Adarshkotwal-6 of Bara. The police arrested them with fake notes of one thousand Nepalese rupees.
