Ruling coalition meeting underway in Baluwatar



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the ruling coalition comprising Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-Unified Socialist, and Rastriya Janamorcha is undergoing in the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

The coalition called a meeting to finalize the coalition candidate for the new prime minister.

“We are working on finalizing the coalition candidate for the Prime Minister, as the largest party in the parliament, NC has proposed party President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the coalition candidate,” NC spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said, adding, “However, Maoist Center Chair Prachanda has proposed that he should lead the government in the first phase; we will try to agree within the given time frame to form the government.”

The President has given the parties the deadline of Sunday 5 pm to submit the name of the candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
