NC leader Koirala for providing relief to people by waiving petroleum taxes

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala has urged the government to waive certain taxes on petroleum products to provide relief to people.

Taking to social media on Friday, Koirala wrote, “The government should reduce the infrastructure tax on petroleum products by Rs 10, road maintenance tax by Rs 4 and customs and declaration fee of Rs 25.23 by half to Rs. 12.62, in total Rs 26.62 per liter, for as long as the price in the international market does not go down.”

He viewed such a decision on exempting taxes as inevitable to save the people from the scourge of inflation and for keeping the economic activities dynamic.
