Bharatpur metropolis brings Rs 5.74 billion budget for next fiscal

KATHMANDU: Bharatpur Metropolitan City has proposed a budget of Rs 5.74 billion for the fiscal year 2022/23.

Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari presented the metropolis’ budget for the next fiscal year on Friday.

The budget set various aims such as creating a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth focusing on production-based jobs, ensuring access to quality education, building eco-friendly infrastructure, investment-friendly environment, and promoting good governance through people-friendly service delivery, among others.

“The metropolis proposes to spend Rs 5.74 billion in the next fiscal to implement the policies and programs. We hope to mobilize Rs 1.5 billion from revenue,” Adhikari said.

The metropolis has proposed to provide each ward office Rs 25 million for proportionate development and has set aside Rs 30 million to meet the drinking water demand of Bharatpur denizens consuming up to Rs 7,000 liters of water every month.

The metropolis’ budget in the running fiscal stood at Rs 5.51 billion.
