10 Unified Socialist lawmakers oppose cabinet reshuffle proposal

KATHMANDU: Ten lawmakers of Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist Party have opposed the party’s proposal for cabinet reshuffle.

Handing over an eight-point letter to party president Nepal, the Unified Socialist lawmakers, including some Ministers, said that it is unnatural, unusual and beyond one’s expectations to get the proposal for the cabinet reshuffle while the budget discussion is undergoing in the federal parliament.

The 10 lawmakers who submitted the letter on Thursday are Ram Kumari Jhankri, Birodh Khatiwada, Prem Ale, and Krishna Kumar Shrestha. Similarly, Krishnalal Maharjan, Gopal Bahadur Bam, Binadevi Budhathoki, Pushpa Kumari Karna, Dhan Bahadur Budha, and Nira Jairu have also signed in the letter.

The Unified Socialist had decided to recall four ministers (Jhankri, Khatiwada, Ale and Shrestha) and send Metmani Chaudhary Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Sher Bahadur Kunwar and Hira KC in the cabinet on June 5.

Minister of State for Health Bhavani Khapung, who joined the government earlier, has been recommended for the post of minister. Kunwar is not a lawmaker.
