President presents govt’s policies and programs for next fiscal
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is presenting the policies and programs of the government for the coming fiscal year 2022/23 in the parliament.
The government’s policy and program has prioritized economic stability, inclusive economic development, social justice and building a self-reliant economy, among others.
The government is scheduled to bring the budget for the next fiscal year on the basis of its policies and programs.
Kathmandu Metropolis: Balen crosses 51,000-mark; Sirjana following
Balen Shah, the independent candidate for the post of mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), is maintaining the lead in the vote count.
According to the latest vote count updates, Shah received 51,933 votes. His nearest rival, Sirjana Singh of Nepali Congress (NC), polled 32,6097 votes.
Similarly, CPN-UML mayoral candidate Keshav Sthapit is trailing behind garnering 32,057 votes.
34,741 out of 35,221 local representatives elected so far
Out of 35,221 posts in the May 13 local election held in the country, people’s representatives have been elected in 34,741 posts so far.
As per the details entered in the election portal of the Election Commission till 7 pm on Tuesday, 13,630 candidates of the Nepali Congress, 11,776 of CPN (UML), 5,019 of CPN (Maoist Center), 1,533 of Janata Samajwadi Party, 979 of CPN (Unified Socialist), 581 of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, 303 of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), 159 of Rastriya Janamorcha and 99 of Nagarik Unmukti Party have been elected to various posts.
I’ll work understanding people’s psychology: Bharatpur Mayor Dahal
Newly elected mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Renu Dahal, has said that she would carry out activities understanding the psychology of the people.
She was also elected as the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolis in 2017.
Saying this is her last tenure at local-level, Dahal shared that she would focus on completing the incomplete activities of the metropolis.
Government to tax social networks including Facebook and Twitter
The government has said it will bring social media under the tax net from next year.
Announcing the policy and program for the fiscal year 2022/23 in a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament today, President Bidya Devi Bhandari said that social media will be brought under the tax net from next year.
NEPSE rises by double digits Tuesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has improved by double digits on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week.
The NEPSE, which closed at 2200.88 points on Monday, has improved by 0.74 percent today.
Today, the market index NEPSE increased by 16.32 points and closed at 2217.19 points.
