Nepal’s foreign trade worth Rs 1.77 trillion, trade deficit increases by 24.94 percent



KATHMANDU: In the first ten months of the current Fiscal Year 2021/22, the total foreign trade of Nepal has reached Rs. 1.77 trillion.

According to the customs department, the total foreign trade has increased by 30.49 percent this year as compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

In the first ten months of the last Fiscal Year 2020/21, the total foreign trade of Nepal was Rs. 1.362 trillion.

According to the latest details released by the Customs Department on Tuesday, in the first ten months of the current fiscal year, Nepal has imported goods worth Rs. 1.64 trillion.

The imports increased by 27.95 percent this year as compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

In the first ten months of the previous fiscal year, Nepal imported goods worth Rs. 1.254 trillion.

In the last ten months, from mid-July 2021 to mid-April 2022, Nepal exported goods worth Rs. 173.34 billion.

Compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, Nepal’s exports increased by 59.80 percent this year.

In the first ten months of the previous Fiscal Year 2020/21, Nepal had exported goods worth Rs. 108.47 billion.

In the first ten months of the current Fiscal Year, Nepal’s foreign trade deficit reached Rs.1.145 trillion.

Compared to the corresponding period of the previous Fiscal Year 2020/21, Nepal’s trade deficit increased by 24.94 percent this year.
