NC’s Chiribabu likely to be reelected Lalitpur mayor

LALITPUR: The counting of votes cast in the local level elections held on May 13 is underway in Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Chiribabu Maharjan backed by the alliance has been taking the lead from the beginning.

According to the latest updates, Maharjan got 36,938 votes while Harikrishna Byanjankar of the CPN-UML got 21,768 votes. Maharjan is ahead of the UML rival by a margin of 15,170 votes.

Similarly, Ashta Bahadur Maharjan of RPP got 4,048 votes while Ujwal Krishna Shrestha of Bibeksheel got 747 votes.

For the post of deputy mayor, UML’s Manjali Shakya Bajracharya is leading with 21,708 votes, followed by Baburam Bajracharya of the CPN (Maoist Center) with 15,839 votes.

Similarly, independent candidate Ajarman Joshi got 6,816 votes.
