UML mayor candidate Sthapit resigns from Bagmati Province Assembly

HETAUDA: Keshav Sthapit, who is going to be the CPN-UML candidate for the post of mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has resigned from the state assembly.

Sthapit, who has been elected as a member of the state assembly under Kathmandu Constituency No. 6, has tendered his resignation to Sanu Kumar Shrestha, the speaker of Bagmati Province.

According to the state assembly secretariat, Sthapit has resigned with effect from today.

Earlier, Bijay Subedi had also resigned from the state assembly to become the mayor of Bharatpur.
