Oli would have been sans party if EC had shown due diligence: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that KP Sharma Oli would have been without a party if the Election Commission (EC) had adopted due diligence.

Stating that 70 percent of leaders of the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had sided with him, Prachanda said Oli would have been left without the party if the Election Commission had initiated member verification process quickly.

“If the EC had acted timely, there would not have been a party called UML today, there would have been no sun sign, KP Oli would have been without a party.”

Prachanda is in Chitwan Thursday to participate in various programs organized in his constituency Madi.

He added that though they created a favorable situation politically and organizationally, international agenda and EC’s pre-planned activities gave a new turn to the circumstances.

Stating that cadres of all political parties were awaiting electoral coordination, he urged Maoist cadres and leaders to move ahead on their own might. “We should not escape our duties/responsibilities, awaiting electoral alliance. We should march ahead by strengthening ourselves. This isn’t an ordinary election for us. It is a battle to us,” he said.

He said the socialist path would be widened after the election by holding a special general convention of the Maoist Center.
