Bagmati Chief Minister Pandey resigns

HETAUDA: In view of the constitutional complications that arose after taking oath of office and secrecy as the member of House of Representatives, Bagmati Chief Minister Rajendra Pandey has resigned from the post on Friday.

After taking the oath of federal parliament on Thursday, Pandey had turned to be in two posts at the same time: the chief minister of Bagmati province and HoR member.

He tendered his resignation after a long discussion with legal expert and Bagmati province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma. Pandey reached the office of the provincial chief at Hetaunda-10 and submitted his resignation to the Province Chief Sharma.

Pandey assumed responsibility as the Bagmati province Chief Minister of the state on November 8, 2021.

Pandey is also the Vice-Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist.

“Although there was no constitutional provision making me resign from the post, I resigned to facilitate the government formation process,” he said.

Chief Minister Pandey is also the deputy leader of the Unified Socialist party in the House of Representatives.
