Observing bodies say election was well-managed

Former Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel viewed that the recently held parliamentary elections had given the feeling that the election had entered next stage of the strengthening of democracy.

The elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly were held at once on November 20.

Vote count update: NC wins 15 seats; UML 6 and RSP 4

Nepali Congress (NC) is still leading as the counting of votes is underway throughout the country.

In the initial vote count of the election held on Sunday, Nepali Congress (NC) has taken the lead followed by CPN-UML so far.

Till now, NC has won in 15 constituencies and the UML in six constituencies.

As of now, NC is still leading in 39  constituencies followed by UML, which is leading in 37 constituencies.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which has already won four seats, is leading in four constituencies.

NC President Deuba elected from Dadeldhura

Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected with a huge margin from Dadeldhura.

He garnered 25,534 votes.

His closest contender, Sagar Dhakal, who contested in Dadeldhura as an independent candidate, secured 13,042 votes, according to the Election Commission.

UML Chair KP Oli wins by a huge margin in Jhapa-5

CPN-UML Chairman and House of Representatives member candidate from Jhapa-5, KP Oli has been elected by a huge margin.

UML Chair Oli got elected securing 52,319 votes.

He defeated Nepali Congress candidate with a wide margin of 28,743 votes.

Janamat Party Chair CK Raut elected from Saptari-2

Janamat Party Chair Dr. Chandra Kant (CK) Raut has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Saptari-2.

Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, who was backed by CPN-UML-led alliance, was contesting against Raut in the constituency.

Dr. Raut has got 35,042 votes, while Yadav managed to garner 16,969 votes.

China proposes Chen Song as its new ambassador to Nepal

KATHMANDU: China is sending Chen Song as its new ambassador to Nepal.

Chen is currently one of five Deputy Director Generals of the Department of Asian Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and oversees South Asian affairs.

Unified Socialist’s Kisan Shrestha elected from Bara-4

Unified Socialist Party’s Kisan Shrestha has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Bara Constituency-4.

Electoral Officer Karna Bahadur Rai informed that the final announcement of Shrestha’s victory is yet to be made.

RSP’s Dr. Tosima Karki elected from Lalitpur-3

Dr. Tosima Karki of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected member of the House of Representatives from Lalitpur Constituency-3.

Dr. Karki garnered 14,208 votes.

Her closest contender CPN-UML’s Amrit Khadka received 8,223 votes.
