JSP announces protest programs demanding President Bhandari’s resignation

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Madhesh Pradesh Committee has announced a protest program demanding the resignation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari for the latter’s refusal to authenticate the Citizenship Bill submitted to her after parliamentary ratification.

JSP announced the protest when politics was divided into two poles after the Citizenship Bill passed by both houses of the Federal Parliament was not verified by the President for the second time.

JSP claimed that millions of people of Madhesh had to be deprived of citizenship due to the President’s refusal to validate the bill.

JSP has organized a discussion, on September 24th, with civil society members, intellectuals, businessmen, teachers, legal practitioners and media persons to sensitize about the Citizenship Bill’s non-authentication. The program will be held at the eight district headquarters of Madhes.

According to JSP, JSP’s sister organizations will protest by burning effigies of President Bhandari on September 27, interact at the municipality level on September 29, and demonstrate at the municipality and ward levels on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October.
