FNTTE urges government to adjust petro prices for festivals

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs-FNNTE has demanded the government adjust the prices of the petroleum products on the eve of the festivals.

Issuing a press statement today urged the government to ensure a respite to the people at festival times as they are hit hard by the skyrocketing prices of petroleum products.

The Federation wants the government to slash the petro prices in line its falling prices in the international market.

“The Nepal Oil Corporation goes with the old price list when the prices fell three times in the international market,” the Federation said in the statement.

It is unfortunate to have the unchanged price list following the falls in the international prices, according to the Federation. “The public transport sector which greatly suffered an economic loss due to COVID-19 pandemic has to clamor for the adjustment of fuel prices instead of getting a relief for the loss,” the press release adds.

Federation Chair Bijay Bahadur Swar said transport entrepreneurs are largely affected by the unexceptional rise in motor vehicle tax, bank interest, route- permit charge, vehicle-test insurance and motor engines.

The price should be quickly revised as per the international market.
