Parliament meeting postponed for a week at UML’s request

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting has been postponed for a week at the request of CPN-UML, the main opposition party.

The UML requested Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota not to hold the meetings of the House of Representatives saying that the party has been holding series of meetings for five days starting Tuesday.

Speaker Sapkota adjourned the HoR meeting until 11 am on August 29, according to the Speaker’s Secretariat.

Main opposition, UML, is holding election-centered meetings of various committees from today.

The UML is holding a meeting to formulate the necessary strategy for the House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assembly elections to be held on November 20.

The UML said that the meeting of the Standing, Politburo, Central Committee and the Central Election Operational Committee will be held by August 28.

On Tuesday, the party is holding a meeting of its Standing Committee at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

According to UML leader Bishnu Rijal, the Standing Committee meeting will be held on August 23, the Politburo meeting on August 25, Central Committee meeting on August 26 and 27.

Rijal also said that the meeting of the Central Election Mobilization Commission will be held on August 28.
