Ruling coalition leaders to discuss allocation of electoral seats



KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the five-party ruling coalition are meeting today as well to discuss the allocation of electoral seats among the parties for the November 20 elections.

The leaders are meeting on Tuesday afternoon as the seat allocation task force for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections could not finalize the distribution of seats.

A meeting of the top leaders of the five-party alliance has been called at 3 pm at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also a member of the task force, informed that there is a possibility of reaching a conclusion regarding seat distribution in today’s meeting.

The task force formed under the chairmanship of Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula for allocating seats has discussed the criteria but has not been able to prepare a concrete proposal.

Meanwhile, Nepal Samajwadi Party led by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, and National Assembly lawmaker Bamdev Gautam are also likely to join the meeting today.
