Voting begins to elect new leadership of Nepal Press Union



KATHMANDU: Election is being held on Saturday under the ninth general convention of the Nepal Press Union for new leadership.

A process to elect a new leadership has begun.

According to the Election Officer, Prabin Humagain, the process to elect the new leadership has started from this afternoon. There are total 1,679 voters.

A total of 169 candidates are contesting in the election for 120-member new committee.

Assistant Election Officer, Krishna Prasad Neupane, said although voting was said to start from 11:00 am today, it was delayed as it took time to print ballot paper, publish the name list of candidates and make arrangement for deputation of election staffs. The voting will take place till 6:30 pm, it is said.

Meanwhile, a total of 31 candidates, including three RSS journalists, have been elected unopposed.
