Govt thanks all agencies for their support in conducting local level election



KATHMANDU: The government has thanked the Election Commission, political parties and voters, and all others for the successful completion of the Local Level Election, 2022.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on May 20 thanked all the government employees, security bodies and security personnel, the media and journalists, civil society and all other agencies for extending direct and indirect support in conducting the local level election.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said the meeting also approved the visit of a delegation led by National Planning Commission Member Dr Dil Bahadur Gurung to take part in the 78th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific which is scheduled to be held in Bangkok of Thailand from 23 to 27 May.

Likewise, the government decided to accept Rs 861.3 million from the Swiss Government for the reintegration of the returnee migrant workers.

Furthermore, the cabinet has decided to form a talk team to receive 275 million US dollars in loan assistance from the World Bank for the transportation and trade integration promotion programmes.

The other decisions include promoting the Armed Police Force’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Narayan Dutta Poudel to Additional Inspector General (AIG) and DIG Basanta Kumar Lama to AIG of the Nepal Police, informed Minister Karki.

Furthermore, the meeting has given permission to the Nepali delegation led by Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharatraj Paudyal to participate in the bilateral consultation mechanism meeting with Norway and Finland on to be held on June 1 and 2.

Agreement in principle has been given for the construction of Surkhet Bheriganga (Ramghat) Airport while Forest Regulation-2079 BS has been approved.
