ANNFSU (R) demands removal of limitation in rape case

KATHMANDU: The ANNFSU (Revolutionary) affiliated to the CPN (Maoist Center) has handed over a memorandum to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Govinda Koirala today demanding the cancellation of the limitation for reporting the incidents of rape.

After an incident of a beauty pageant organizer sexually assaulting a young woman became public, the ANNFSU (R) demanded that the limitation for filing of cases should be removed for heinous crimes such as rape.

Demanding that the limitation be removed by amending the law, the ANNFSU (R) president Pancha Singh said that law should be amended to extend the limitation as many had been deprived of justice due to the limitation, which currently stands at one year.

Appropriate provisions should also be made for the safety of the survivors keeping in view the pressure and impact on the rape survivors and their families.
