UML wins in Gauradaha municipality



JHAPA: The CPN-UML has secured a win in the mayor and deputy mayor posts in Gauradaha municipality.

Party’s Chhatrapati Subedi has been elected with 12,849 votes against his nearest contender Rohit Kumar Shah from the Nepali Congress who got 11,448 votes.

Likewise, UML’s Jalbarsha Rajbamshi was elected deputy mayor with 11,914 votes. Her closest rival Pushpalal Dhakal from the CPN (Maoist Center) secured 10,348 votes. The NC and Maoist Center joined an alliance in the municipality in the May 13 local election.

Of the total nine wards in the municipality, the UML won five ward chair seats (ward-1, 4, 5, 7, and 9) and the NC two seats (ward-2 and 6).

Similarly, an independent candidate and the Maoist Center won one seat each (ward-3 goes to the independent candidate and ward-8 to the Maoist Center).
