Rs 28.34 billion worth of gold imported in nine months of running fiscal



KATHMANDU: More than Rs. 28.54 billion has exited from the country for gold imports in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

As per the details of the first nine months of the current Fiscal Year 2078/79 made public by the Department of Customs, gold worth Rs. 28.54 billion was imported into Nepal.

According to statistics, the country has imported more than 4,000 kilograms of gold in a period of nine months. The government has collected revenue of Rs. 3.48 billion from the import of gold.

According to publicly available reports, gold is mainly imported to Nepal from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey. According to the department, the highest amount of gold was imported from UAE in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

A total of Rs 22.62 billion was sent to UAE to procure 3.233 million grams of gold while the government revenue collection from the same stood at Rs 2.74 billion.

Likewise, 861,500 grams of gold worth Rs 5.92 billion was imported from Turkey during the period.
