EC to publish ballot papers for metropolises only after getting final list of candidates



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to publish the ballot papers for six metropolitan cities only after the publication of the final list of the candidates.

According to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, EC will publish the ballot list for six metropolitan cities only after the number of contestants and the political parties is fixed.

EC also informed that only the ballot paper will comprise of the election symbols of the parties contesting in those metros. In other words, the national parties which do not file candidacy in the election cannot get their election symbols published in the ballot paper.

Chief Commissioner Thapaliya said that EC took this decision long before.

In addition to the metropolitan cities of the country, four municipalities of Bhaktapur district also will get their ballot papers published only after finalizing the list of the contestants.
