KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has urged party leaders to refrain from being affected by psychological fear of electoral alliance among the ruling partners.
Oli’s views come at a time when Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Nepal have been emphasizing on electoral alliance in the local polls slated for May 13.
Speaking at the party’s central committee meeting on Wednesday, Chairman Oli claimed that the alliance or a coalition was not a symbol of strength but a sign of weakness.
Meanwhile, he also presented a political dossier at the meeting that started on Wednesday.
The political report reviewed the recent political situation and said that it was important to get rid of the psychological fear of the ruling coalition.
According to the report, the UML had won 42 percent of the seats in the local elections alone against the Nepali Congress-Maoist alliance in the last election as well.
The meeting is also discussing the upcoming elections.
The leaders in the meeting are also present their views on the chairman’s report.
The meeting will also discuss the election manifesto, the criteria for selecting candidates for local level elections, among other issues.
The meeting will conclude on Thursday.
