Sobhraj’s release delayed in last hour, to be handed to Immigration on Friday

KATHMANDU: The notorious French citizen Charles Sobhraj, who is serving a prison sentence for the murder of an American citizen, will remain in the Central Jail in Sundhara on Thursday.

The Central Jail had carried out Sobhraj’s health check up on Wednesday with the plan of releasing him on Thursday. After getting the message that there was no separate room to keep him under Immigration, the authority decided to arrange for Sobhraj’s special accommodation within the jail premises for Thursday.

The Central jail official, Ishwari Pandey, informed that the Immigration urged the authority to arrange for Sobhraj’s stay in jail for today as Immigration had not got enough time to arrange for Sobhraj’s living for Thursday.

Sobhraj will be sent to France on Friday.
