RPP wins Province Assembly seat in Kathmandu- 2(1)



KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has opened its account of election victory from Kathmandu constituency no. 2(1), winning a seat in the Province Assembly.

RPP’s candidate Sunil KC was elected a Member of the Province Assembly from this constituency by securing 5,598 votes, said Yagya Raj Regmi, Assistant Election Officer.

KC’s nearest competitor Sanu Kumar Shrestha bagged 5,079 votes.
Counting of votes for the PA election in Kathmandu constituency 2(2) is also in progress.

Meanwhile, Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party tops the vote-count tally in the House of Representatives election in Kathmandu-2. Out of 25,446 votes counted as of 3pm, Gautam has secured 7,187 votes.

Her nearest contender Maniram Phuyal of CPN (UML) has garnered 5,490 votes followed by Kunta Devi Pokharel of RPP with 5,051 votes and CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Onsari Gharti who bagged 4,929 votes, said Regmi, the Assistant Election Officer.

A total 52,957 votes were cast in this constituency in the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly held on Sunday. The total number of voters is 81,970.
