Two die and six get APF truck mishap in Kapilvastu



KAPILVASTU: Two people have died and six others were injured when a truck carrying armed police force (APF) personnel met with an accident in Kapilvastu on Friday evening.

The truck carrying APF personnel went out of control and met with an accident in Siuti of Banganga Municipality-3 in the district.

The truck driver armed police constable Ramesh Chaudhary and local resident Amar Tangnami died in the accident that took place in the Taulihwa road section, according to Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Pipra, Deepak Babu KC.

Buddhi Prasad Pandey, an eyewitness, said that the APF truck with registration number Na. 1 Ga. 554 went out of control and hit cyclists and pedestrians walking on the road.

Pedestrians Sagar Pandey, Raju Chaudhary and Kul Bahadur Gharti were seriously injured when the truck hit them. They are undergoing treatment in Butwal, police said.

Three other APF constables Govind Subedi, Janak Chaudhary and Prem Malla were injured in the incident. After first-aid at Kapilvastu Community Hospital, they have been referred to Butwal for further treatment.

Local residents and police rescued the injured after the accident happened near a human settlement.

According to the Pipra area police office, further investigation is being conducted on the incident.
