CoAS Sharma holds election security-focused meeting with chief of security agencies



KATHMANDU: Nepali Army (NA) Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhuram Sharma has held election security-focused meeting with chiefs of security bodies on Thursday.

CoAS Sharma discussed the upcoming election security with Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal and Chief Investigation Director of National Investigation Department (NID) Hutraj Thapa along with Lieutenant Generals of NA.

The NA said that a meeting was held to ensure successful completion of the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly Elections-2022.

The discussion focused on the security arrangements necessary for the successful completion of the upcoming November 20 elections while reviewing the contemporary overall security situation.

Similarly, security chiefs also analyzed the challenges and sensitivities of election security caused by recent political events.

The heads of the security agencies agreed to effectively implement the responsibilities given to them by the government to conduct the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections-2079 in a free, fair, and fear-free environment with mutual coordination and cooperation at three levels, said NA.
