Federal Parliament endorses condolence motion on lawmaker Giri’s demise



KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) has passed the condolence resolution on the demise of lawmaker Pradip Giri.

A session of the upper house today endorsed the motion on the passing away of House of Representatives (HoR) member Giri who breathed his last amidst the treatment for cancer at Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur at 9:30 pm on Saturday.

The meeting observed a minute of silence over the death of HoR member, extending heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

The NA shall meet again at 1:00 pm on August 28.

Likewise, the HoR session today unanimously passed a condolence motion on the death of its member Giri and also observed a minute of silence.

Giri who is known as the fearless iconoclast in the Nepali political spectrum is a socialist thinker.

Born in 2006 BS in Bastipur of Siraha, he won the 2051 BS HoR election from the Siraha constituency 5, representing the Nepali Congress.

He was the member in the reinstated House of Representatives following the 2006 people’s movement, was the member in the 20o8 and the 2013 Constituency Assembly and won the latest 2018 general elections from the Siraha-1.
