PM Deuba to inaugurate NPU ninth General Convention in Hetauda on Friday



HETAUDA: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is to inaugurate the ninth National General Convention of Nepal Press Union (NPU) in Hetauda today.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Deuba is scheduled to arrive Hetauda to inaugurate the national gathering of journalists of democratic stream, said NPU officiating general secretary Bhishma Raj Ojha.

The NPU is holding its general convention at Royal Party Palace, Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati province on July 22-23.

It will elect a 141-member central committee. NC vice presidents Dhanaraj Gurung and Purna Bahadur Khadka and general secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa will also be here on the occasion.

Over 1,600 people including press union representatives and observers are expected to join the event.

Earlier, the Union had formed the local coordination committee headed by its member and Bagmati Province coordinator Rammani Dahal.
