US Deputy Secretary Zeya holds meeting with PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Visiting US Deputy Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights and Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues Uzra Zeya held talks with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Zeya, who arrived for a three-day visit on Friday, met Prime Minister Deuba on Saturday and discussed relations between Nepal and the United States, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Her visit comes as Nepal and the US are celebrating 75 years of establishment of diplomatic ties as well as the ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Sources said she also discussed partnering with Nepal and India during this Year of Action for the Summit for Democracy with the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, PM Deuba said, “It was a pleasure receiving the US delegation led by Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya. We exchanged views on Nepal-US relations and matters of mutual interests.”
