JSP dissatisfied as ruling coalition allocates mayor of Nepalgunj to NC

BANKE: Local leaders of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) in Nepalgunj have been dissatisfied with the ruling coalition’s decision to allocate the post of mayor of Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City to the Nepali Congress.

The ruling coalition had decided to allocate the post of mayor to the NC and that of deputy mayor to the JSP.

With the decision JSP Banke District Committee has decided to contest elections without the alliance.

Commenting on the decision, JSP Central leader Mohammad Istiyak Rai said the decision is against the spirit of the people in general which the district committee will not accept.

“JSP’s district party committee has objected to the central decision as it is against the spirit of the local people. I will go with what the local cadres decide,” said  Istiyak Rai.

The JSP is not ready to forge alliance throughout the district after the NC did not agree to allocate the post of mayor of Nepalgunj Sub Metropolis to the JSP

JSP, which appears to have a strong hold in the South East Banke had been demanding posts of mayors in four local units including Nepalgunj.

Earlier, UML had won in four local units, NC two and Rastriya Prajatantra Party one in the Banke district.
