SMC Federation condemns Letang incident of sexual harassment on girl student

KATHMANDU: The Community School Management Committee Federation of Nepal (SMC Federation) has condemned the incident of sexual harassment against a girl student at Letang Municipality-5 of Morang.

Manoj Poudel, a teacher of Sikshya Bikas Secondary School has been accused of sexually harassing the seventh grader of the same school.

SMC Federation Chairperson Krishna Thapa demanded the Morang District Administration to take action against the teacher at the earliest as teacher Poudel did a shameful act, defaming the teaching profession.

The Federation also asked to form a probe committee comprising bodies concerned, including District Education Coordination Unit, teachers association and organization, school management committee of the same school and school principal to carry out investigation into the incident and to take legal action at the earliest.

The Federation also urged to carry out necessary treatment of the girl as well as to provide compensation.
